About the board

This board will advise or inform the county executive, county council, the county delegation to the Maryland General Assembly, and the Office of Economic Development on agricultural issues of concern and to enhance the economies of agriculture in the county. It was created by Harford County Code of Maryland, Article XVA, Section 9-100.1

Membership

This board consists of 20 members that are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. Sixteen of the board members represent the following farm practices or agricultural industries:

  • Agricultural Education Foundation
  • Agricultural Land Preservation Program
  • Cooperative Extension
  • Dairy
  • Deer Creek Watershed Association
  • Equine
  • Harford County Farm Bureau
  • Livestock
  • Nursery
  • Department of Economic Development
  • Retail
  • Service
  • Soil Conservation District, Future Farmers of America
  • Vegetable/Fruit

The remaining four members are a council representative or designee and three members-at-large. The members of the board shall serve at the pleasure of the county executive, who will annually select a chair.
