The Harford County Department of Emergency Services includes seven branches that all have a common goal: to protect and serve the citizens of Harford County.

We work in partnership with the volunteer fire and emergency medical services, the Harford County Fire & EMS Association, Harford County Sheriff's Office and municipal law enforcement agencies, all of which are fully dedicated and committed to protecting the health, safety and well-being of our citizens. 

DES provides around-the-clock emergency medical response with 17 ambulances staffed with paramedics and EMTs stationed around the county: most volunteer fire companies as well as the North Harford station in Pylesville and DES building in Hickory.

We also answer all 911 calls made in the county - more than 400 a day - and in the event of a major weather event or other disaster or emergency, staff the Emergency Operations Center. 

Our office takes great pride in providing professional emergency support services; emergency preparedness education for the public; coordination of emergency response and recovery efforts; and collecting and disseminating emergency information.
