Harford County Nature Social Group Program

This FREE social play program is for children with disabilities in grades 2 through 5 and is designed to improve play skills; expand communication, listening, sharing, cooperation, and taking turns; and encourage peer socialization.

Thursdays in September & October
(September 18 & 25 and October 2 & 9)
5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Mariner Point Park
100 Kearney Drive, Joppa

Parents and/or caregivers are included and will receive a caregiver training series covering the following topics:

  1. What to do if you disagree with the decision of the school.
  2. Where to find training about special education issues.
  3. Where to get information about organizations that offer support for parents/caregivers of students with disabilities.

Nature Social Group Flyer
  1. Requirements
    • Must be a Harford County Public School student in grades 2 through 5.
    • Must have an IEP or 504 plan.
    • Must be able to attend ALL sessions during the 4-week program.
    • Must be willing to remain outside for the entire duration.
    • Must be accompanied by parent/guardian willing and able to intervene or assist staff as requested in addressing any prolonged, disruptive or aggressive behavior.

    NOTE: Dropping off children is NOT permitted. A parent or legal guardian MUST participate in the parent training portion of the program while their child attends the social group.
