Electrical Registrations
Normally valid for two years, renewal application is required prior to expiration date. Contact the Electrical Services Division at 410-638-3056 for information, requirements, or an application in any of the following areas:
- Limited electrician (specific to a specialty, e.g., signs, heating, etc.)
- Limited journeyperson electrician
- Master electrician
- Restricted electrician (specific to maintenance)
Electrical permits

- Valid for twelve months from date of issue (If no inspection activity is performed within the twelve month period, permit is canceled, there is no refund of permit fee). A request for permit extension may be made.
- No refund of fees paid
- Application for a permit must be made by a master electrician at the Electrical Services Division (220 S. Main Street (first floor), Bel Air, Maryland)
- A homeowner may apply for a one-time homeowner’s permit to perform electrical work in their own home (must pass a homeowner’s test)
