1. When will construction start?
Construction is anticipated to begin summer 2024.
2. What time of year can construction take place?
Construction will take place between June 15 and March 1. The timing for construction is based on the stream designation assigned by Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The restrictions are established to protect fish spawning.
3. How long will it take to complete construction?
Approximately six (6) to nine (9) months. See the Construction FAQ Tab for more details.
4. What time of the day will construction occur?
Normal construction hours are 7 am to 5 pm.
5. Will construction occur on weekends?
No, construction will typically not occur on weekends. The County will allow special exceptions only as needed.
1. Will construction occur during the school year?
Yes, construction is anticipated to begin summer 2024 and last approximately six (6) to nine (9) months. See the Timeframe FAQ Tab for more details.
2. Will construction traffic impact buses or the elementary school?
No, construction traffic will be prohibited between 7 am to 9 am and 2 pm to 4 pm.
3. Will sidewalks be closed during construction?
No, sidewalks will not be closed during construction.
1. Where will the contractor access the restoration site?
2. Will there be road closures during the project?
No, there will be no road closures during the project. There may be temporary impacts to traffic when construction materials are being delivered or soils are being removed from the site.
3. What time of day will construction traffic occur?
Construction traffic will be prohibited between 7 am to 9 am and 2 pm to 4 pm.
1. What is meant by "limits of construction" on the project location map?
2. Will all of the trees be removed within the "limits of construction"?
No, construction plans have identified selected trees for removal. Trees within the limits have been evaluated. Construction plans were developed that avoided removal of the healthiest trees.
3. Will construction be active the entire duration of the project within the entire "limits of construction"?
No, construction typically begins at the upstream project limits and progresses downstream. For this project, the upstream project limits is Golden Rod Court. As construction is completed, each segment is stabilized and construction equipment moves downstream. Approximately 50 to 100 feet of stream can be restored per day.
4. Will construction impact my private property?
No, construction will only occur within the community open spaces.
5. Will construction be loud?
Yes, at times construction will be loud. Heavy equipment is necessary to construct the stream restoration. Pumps will also run intermittently, but never after crews have left the site for the day. The stream must be pumped around the areas that are actively under construction.
6. Will construction be messy?
Yes, construction within the stream will be muddy but will be stabilized as the project progresses. At no time will the entire area have exposed soils.
7. Who ensures the project is constructed properly?
A county inspector is on-site to oversee construction throughout the duration of the project.
