Childcare Provider Relief Grant

The Program 
Harford County, Maryland will administer the COVID-19 Childcare Provider Relief Grant Program, which will provide grants of $7,500 each to eligible Harford County, Maryland in-home, non-profit, or faith-based childcare establishments to cover costs related to ensuring the completion of necessary modifications to maintain current social distancing guidelines and to provide safe, quality childcare. The federal funds are provided locally through the CARES Act. Applicants should thoroughly review the eligibility and application process below and read the Frequently Asked Questions as applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Submission of an incomplete or inaccurate application may result in ineligibility for program funding. Harford County, Maryland is committed to timely review and processing to ensure award recipients can apply this resource to the successful continuation of business operations.

Grant Terms  
Harford County, Maryland will provide an award of $7,500 to an eligible Harford County, Maryland in-home, non-profit, or faith-based childcare establishment. All funds must be dispensed by December 30, 2020. 

Use of Funds 

Funds are to be used for the completion of necessary modifications required to maintain current social distancing qualifications. These costs may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) 
  • Payroll costs 
  • Inside and outside facility enhancements, additions, and upgrades to maintain physical distancing standards
  • Interest payments on business loans or lines of credit

Eligibility 
To qualify, the establishment:

  • Must be located in Harford County, Maryland;  
  • Must be a licensed childcare provider;
  • Eligibility is limited to in-home, non-profit, or faith-based childcare establishments; 
  • Must have been in operation prior to October 1, 2020;  
  • Must be in good standing with Harford County, Maryland, and registered with the Maryland State Department of Education, Division of Early Childhood; and
  • May not currently be in default on any loans from Harford County, Maryland or delinquent on any taxes, fees, or other charges owed to Harford County, Maryland.

Businesses MAY NOT receive a grant allocation from the Childcare Provider Relief Grant Program if they have already received funding through another Harford County COVID-19 Business Relief Grant program.

The site is updated with new information frequently and features federal and state funding programs as well as the Maryland Unemployment Insurance portal.

Please note: The subject line of your email submission must read your business name. 

To Apply  
Submit COMPLETE AND ACCURATE application with all required supporting documentation via email to: childcareproviderrelief@harfordcountymd.gov with your business name as the subject line. It is imperative that all applicants ensure the accuracy of their legal business name and address when completing and signing their application, W9, and Direct Deposit/EFT forms. Failure to submit a complete and accurate application may preclude you from being awarded grant funds from this program.  

APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 4

DO NOT SUBMIT APPLICATIONS MORE THAN ONCE – Applicants will receive an email notification confirming their submission.

Harford County will ONLY ACCEPT ELECTRONIC, TYPED SUBMISSIONS with the exception of legal INKED signatures at childcareproviderrelief@harfordcountymd.gov beginning Wednesday, November 4 at 8 a.m. Any attempted email submission before 8 a.m. on November 4 will not be held in a queue and must be resubmitted for consideration. All forms have been made fillable for convenience. No handwritten forms will be accepted. Please label your email subject line with the business legal name to ensure expediency.  

Review 
Applicants will receive email notifications confirming receipt of their application. If an incomplete application is received, the applicant will be notified of the issue and asked to resubmit. However, the applicant’s place in the queue will not be saved.
